As part of our journey towards Sustainable Entrepreneurship, in corporation with Voka Limburg, a next step has been taken. By transitioning from road transport to inland shipping we significantly reduce our carbon footprint. By moving the majority of our containers via the Albert Canal instead of the E313 motorway, we've cut road travel by 25,000 kilometres annually, resulting in a 55% reduction in CO₂ emissions.

This shift aligns with our broader sustainability strategy, in which logistics play an important role. The transition to barge transport not only enhances operational efficiency but also reinforces our ecological values, all without incurring additional costs.

Since late 2024, approximately 80% of our containers from the Port of Antwerp have been arriving by inland vessel. Initial tests confirmed the viability of this approach, demonstrating that waterborne transport matches road logistics in timing and cost, while offering substantial environmental benefits.

This initiative exemplifies how sustainability goals can be translated into tangible results. By reducing the number of trucks on the road, we not only lessen our environmental impact but also contribute to decreased traffic congestion and noise pollution.

BergHOFF Worldwide's commitment to sustainable practices, as demonstrated through our participation in the Voka Charter and our logistics transformation, underscores our dedication to responsible and future-ready operations
